The AKAP program reached Tondo, Manila through the efforts of TGP Partylist Representative and Deputy Majority Leader Congressman Bong Joson Teves Jr. This initiative was made possible in partnership with the DSWD NCR Field Office and with the strong support of Councilor Jhun Ibay.
Beneficiaries, including members of Tau Gamma Phi and Tau Gamma Sigma, received the assistance that aims to ease their daily struggles. In line with the directive of Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III to ensure a more open and transparent deliberation of the 2026 National Budget, the Budget Amendments Review Sub-committee (BARSc) of the Committee on Appropriations, chaired by Rep. Mikaela Angela Suansing, held a live public hearing last September 22, 2025. Despite the threat of Supertyphoon Nando, the committee pressed on with nearly nine hours of deliberations on proposed amendments to the budget of several key government agencies.

Bong Joson Teves Jr., joined fellow legislators in almost nine hours of budget deliberations, tackling key agencies such as PhilHealth, DSWD, DOLE, DepEd, CHED, NFA, DICT, DOE, and PCA. Under the leadership of Speaker Dy, the House continues to work towards a national budget that is transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the Filipino people.
The FY 2026 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was presented to the Committee on Appropriations, chaired by Rep. Mikaela Angela B. Suansing, with Secretary Vince Dizon presenting the agency’s plans and programs.

Good news for our hardworking abacaleros! TGP Partylist Representative, Deputy Majority Leader, and Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Appropriations, Congressman Bong Joson Teves Jr., met with PhilFIDA Executive Director Ali Atienza and DA Region V Regional Director Rodel Tornilla to push forward an exciting initiative—bringing back abaca fiber in our country’s banknotes in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
This step highlights the value of abaca as our world-class heritage fiber, securing sustainable livelihoods for thousands of Filipino farmers who depend on it.
